George Turns 4

George turned 4 in August and I was  planning on doing cake at a friends since we were going to be on our way down to Georgia. Two weeks before though he started telling me about how he was going to have a party with all of his friends. Of course, I started feeling bad that he wasn't going to have a party so I threw one together at the park.

Three days after Georges party we moved out of our house and started driving to GA to visit family for a month.  Oh, and I had a 2 month old baby. So, I did what I had to and ordered a cake from the bakery at the local grocery store. It was a little painful but I survived the disappointment of not making it myself. We'll get back on track next year.

He was pretty thrilled with his monster truck cake. It was also one of the hottest days of the summer so by the time we sang and cut the cake the frosting was melting away.

Buddy, we can't believe you're already four! You are such a hug blessing to our family and we enjoy everyday with you. We love you.

June and July

I'm going to finally try and catch up on blogging. We've been so busy moving, traveling and getting used to the craziness of three small children. 

The week after Rosalie was born my parents came up for a week. It was great timing because Nathan had to be gone for 5 days to Alabama for some training. I wish we could have done a bit more while they were here but I did just have a baby the week before. We did a lot of playing outside, looking at old trucks, and playing in the creek.

One afternoon they took the kids to the hobby shop to pick up some balsa wood airplanes. They were a huge hit. Flying them off the back deck into the yard was pretty fun to watch. 

Nathan flew back from Alabama on Saturday and the 5 of us made it to our first Sunday morning service since Rosalie was born. I think this is our first photo as a family of 5.

4TH of July week is always fun because Nathan has it off of work. We started out in Kittery at Lil's Cafe and then decided to keep driving and head to Portland.

We decided to check out Maine Craft Distillery and Rising Tide Brewery. They're both located right next to each other on Fox Street in Portland. If you hop on Rising Tide's website they have a list of what food truck is on site every day. It's a pretty great set up and on this particular day there was a bbq truck. It was very tasty. Pulled pork sandwiches topped with coleslaw is always a win.

Between tasting gin, eating lunch, and taking kids to the bathroom 5 times we ended up hanging out at the distillery for about 2 hours. Surprisingly there were no meltdowns or disasters. It was a huge success with three small children.

The other great thing about this little area on Fox Street is the huge park and play ground across the street. After doing a tasting at Rising Tide we took the kids over to play. 

Fox Street also houses Coffee By Design so it's a great place to stop and do 3-4 things without having to go anywhere. We like downtown Portland but this was nice to not have to pay for parking and have multiple venues right there. 

On July 4th Sunday Rosalie Emlyn was baptized. It was a bit last minute because our previous pastor was up for a visit during their families vacation. It was special since he had baptized George and Edith.

Our former pastors youngest, Ben, who was great buds with George. They spent the night at the house one night and these three had a blast playing together. We do miss them!

Summer Concerts At Prescott Park

Prescott Park in Portsmouth always has a great lineup of events during the summer. We only made it down for one concerts this summer but it was a good one. We packed a picnic and met friends for music by Brett Dennen. 

The weather was perfect and the kid had a blast dancing and running around. Being able to listen to live music and not having to keep your kids still is a win, win for everyone. Summer is the best!

Our good friends David and Anna with their sweet boys. George and Edith are great buds with those two.

Another great night in this city that we enjoy so much. 

Summer I Wish You'd Stay

This has been the best summer!! We have packed more fun things into these warm months than I think we have in all the summers we've been in NH. I'm pretty sure we've done everything on our summer list. Sadly, summer will officially be over on Wednesday and I'm sad about that. I'm typically ready for fall by this time but I'd take a couple more months of beach trips, barely clothed kids and ice cream.

Grandparents and George Turns 3

I am so behind with this whole blogging thing. A full month has flown by and I haven't posted a bit about all the things we've been doing. This, of course, means that we've been doing a lot. So lets go back to the second week in August. 

My parents came up for the week of George's birthday and they were able to experience the reason we put up with terrible winters. Summer in NH is bliss. We took them to a concert in the park, local ice cream spot and our favorite burger joint down on the river.  

George was pretty much attached to Nonno the whole 5 days they were in town.

 

George turned 3 on August 16th. We had planned a little cowboy and indian party outside but sadly 15 minutes before it started the rain clouds rolled in. It was a bit crazy with all the little kids packed in the house. 

Thankfully the rain let up enough to start a fire and let the kids make s'more's. 

Sunday morning we were actually ready for church early! This meant we had to get a few pictures of everyone dressed up.

Sunday was his actual birthday so we did a second little celebration in the back yard. 

Let the dirt bike craziness begin!

So far we've only wrecked once and George now knows how to go left, right, and straight. Progress is being made!!
