Winter Wedding And A Night Away

Back in February Nathan and I had the opportunity to attend our friends wedding in Whitefield, NH. It's about 1.5 hours away so we had good friends stay over and keep the kids so we could have a night away. It also helps when the wedding is at the Mountain View Grand Hotel. 

It was unusually warm for February and especially in the mountains. By the time we got to the hotel there was no snow on the ground which is a little crazy for this time a year. Especially if you remember our winter last year. 

I meant to have someone take our picture at the wedding but I sadly forgot. This is our only one from right after we jumped in the car to leave.

The brides mother did all the lovely decorating for the reception. 

Sunday morning we ordered room service and sat in bed until 9. It's been a while since we've done that! A few snow flakes were starting to fall as we loaded up and left to go home. I'm so glad we decided to stay the night and not just drive up and back. It was a nice slice of time just Nathan and I.

Micah Gets Married

The main reason we went to GA for a visit was because my brother Micah was getting married. I was asked to do the cake, which I happily agreed to. It was a little crazy making a cake in someone else's kitchen without my normal tools but thanks to some borrowed equipment everything turned out great. 

Micah and Brianna chose to do a small outdoor wedding in a little woodsy spot outside of Newnan, GA. The weather ended up not too hot and we managed to keep Edith from eating dirt and George from escaping to sit in peoples cars.

I thought a lolly pop would keep Edith happy during the ceremony but she finished it in 5 minutes and whined the rest of the time.

I caught this of George while the pastor was praying. Could it get any sweeter?

The cake! .

I did yellow cake and vanilla buttercream with nutella filling on the middle tier and blueberry jam on the bottom tier. Brianna wanted the top tier to have buttercream between the layers since they were going to save it.

We couldn't find a cooler large enough for the bottom tier so we put the whole thing in a plastic storage container and packed it with dry ice. I waited until after the ceremony to put it out so we wouldn't have any chance of it melting

We are so excited to have Brianna in the family! You picked a great one Micah.

 One of these days we might have almost as many girls as guys in this family. 

A Wedding, Bithday Party, Car Show & Job Interview

The last weekend in October we spent in Charlotte NC. The main reason we went up was for Jefferey and Amanda's wedding on Saturday. It was a beautiful wedding with crisp fall air and tons of fall colors. We were able to see some of our friends that have also moved away from Charlotte and a some that are still there.

After the wedding we went by Trader Joe's. I love this store and I really, really miss it.

Sunday just happened to Stephanie's birthday and they had a big party for her Saturday night. Ben and Stephanie were also our hosts for the weekend. It was great to catch up since we haven't seen them in a year.

Sunday after church we went to the GoodGuys car show. Someone just happened to have tickets at the party Saturday and wasn't going to use them.

Sunday night we went to our favorite restaurant The Crepe Cellar. It was just as amazing as last time.

My crepe was filled with salmon, leeks, tomatoes and Gruyere cheese.

Nathan's pesto and brie fries...

...along with his wild mushroom, spinach and goat cheese crepe.
After dinner we stopped by our favorite french bakery Amelie's. We split a little cake with vanilla chifon layers that were soaked in Grand Marnier and then covered with (real) vanilla buttercream and almonds.

It was a busy weekend but a blast...we'd love to get back to NC one day. Oh and Nathan did have an interview at one of the race shops on Monday. We're still waiting to hear back.

Savannah Wedding

Saturday we went down to Savannah for Nathans childhood friend Josh's wedding. The weather was beautiful (not to hot) and the wedding was lovely. The service was at Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church and the reception was at the Savannah Yacht Club.




I just finished this dress last week to wear to the wedding. It's from a vintage 1950's Simplicity pattern. The shoes were Nathans grandmothers.





It was a lot of fun and nice to get of of Statesboro for a little while.
