Memorial Day

Last night I joined the Madson's and Hoffer's at the Rhodes for a Memorial Day cookout. It was a lot of fun. Sammy, as I learned last night, is an excellent cook. Thanks for having me!

Here are a few pictures from the night...

Great Friends

A couple weeks ago I was having a particular hard day. Brandy and Charlotte showed up at the restaurant with these cute little bowls from Club Mudd. It was a huge encouragement to see my friends. I can't wait to use these! They're perfect for ice cream and prep bowls!

Columbia

This past Sunday Nathan and I met in Columbia, SC for the day since it's about halfway for both of us. For those of you that are from Columbia or SC, I'm sorry, but it was the most difficult city to navigate. We did have a lot of fun though! We got a quick bite for breakfast and some much needed coffee before heading to Rose Hill PCA for church. After church we went to The Gourmet Shop for brunch. It was amazing! They had all kinds of awesome cooking gadgets, tools, gourmet foods and also a cafe. You can tell by the pictures that I could have stayed there all day.

Next on the list was a tour of a historical house. I found on the Historic Columbia website that on the third Sunday of every month for $1 you can take a tour of one of the houses. The website and the women I talked to when I called both failed to mention that it was only for residence of Lexington County.

Robert Mills House

We payed the extra money and took a tour of the Hampton-Preston House.

We walked around downtown for a while looking at more old houses. Thankfully we had an umbrella because the predicted rain finally arrived. We ate our picnic dinner at Sesquicentennial State Park before finding Cool Beans coffee shop where we stopped to get loaded up on caffeine before driving back to Statesboro and Charlotte. It was a fun day trip...next time I want to go to the zoo!

Trader Joes and Pizza

So one of the things I wanted to do while in Charlotte was go to Trader Joe's. My friend Brandy has been telling me how amazing it is so I checked it out. I'm in love!! Statesboro really needs on of these...or at least Savannah!
We bought ingredients to make pizza with while we were there. Started with whole wheat crust and added artichokes, black olives, red pepper spread, and fetta cheese. It turned out really well.

Finished product...ummm

Sunday Dinner

Sunday (while I was in NC) Nathan and I grilled lamb. It was quite tasty. I wish I had the recipe to share but it was in book that belong to a friend of Nathans so I can't get it. I made lemon couscous to go with the lamb and it all turned out really well. Yummy!

Boshe Engineering 250 @ VIR

Two weekends ago Wesley (my brother) and I headed to Charlotte visit Nathan. Saturday morning we got up early and headed to VIR for the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Bosch Engineering 250 . It was amazing!! VIR is a beautiful road course and the weather was great.

Before getting on our way we had to stop by Amelie's, a little French bakery, for breakfast. I had to take a picture of their little bags because they were so cute.

I thought this older couple sitting in front of us were so funny.

It was a blast and I can't wait to go back!
