Just like last year Nathan has a week off in March. Originally we had planned to go somewhere but with the baby supposed to arrive so soon we hung out around here.
We started out by going to Lexie's Joint for burgers, fries, and fried pickles.
I had been twice but Nathan and George had never been so this was their first time.
They have the best burgers and fries I've ever had. This place is seriously amazing. Oh, and they have milkshakes made with local ice cream. Yum, yum, yummm.
I had their special for the day. If I can remember it had mozzarella, coleslaw, tomato, and chimichurri sauce.
After our delicious lunch we walked around downtown. This is a new German coffee and pastry shop that I've wanted to try.
It was really cute and the coffee was delicious.
We worked on a lot of projects the rest of the week. I'll have a full post up of the tepee I made for George soon.
St. Patrick's Day was Monday so we celebrated with the traditional fare.
Three of George's favorites. Cabbage, carrots, and bread.
As you can see George knows when his picture is being taken.
On the coldest morning of the week we headed to our favorite coffee shop after breakfast and then to the library.
This past weekend was maple weekend in NH. We had planned to go last year to a sugar shack but something came up and we didn't make it. The closest one to us is only about 15 minutes away. Thankfully it wasn't super cold Saturday morning since everything is outside.
This is the big vat of sap from the trees. This particular sugar shack has about 900 trees that they tap plus they buy sap from two other guys that have trees.
The harvest is late this year due to the unusually cold weather. By this time last year everyone was pretty much done.
This years (top) and previous years syrup color.
Maple sugar coma. At this point he had sampled raw sap, maple syrup, maple candy and was about to get a taste of maple butter.
Staycation 2014 was a success though I think next year we'll head somewhere warm for the week.

send me some maple syrup!
I would be so spoiled with all those great little cafes in your area. I miss exploring new eateries.
