Latest Sewing Projects

I haven't been doing as much sewing lately as I would like. We've been busy around here and there isn't enough energy or time to get everything done. I have finished 2 projects and here they are.

I made this vest for Nathan for Easter. The pattern is one that I've used before but I drafted it down to be slimmer and longer. I also added an extra welt on each side. The buttons are some vintage ones that I've been hanging onto for something special and the fabric is some that was leftover from an older project.

This is my latest accomplishment. The pattern I used was Simplicity 7876. It's a simple wrap skirt but I made it more time consuming be doing a more tailored look and hand sewing most of it. The only other time I made this skirt I hemmed with the machine and top stitched the waistband.  I think this version looks a lot better.

A Weekend In Maine

Recently we traveled up to Maine to visit our friends the Marshall's. They live outside of Bangor out in the country on a lake. It was a fun relaxing weekend and our first little road trip since George was born. Three and a half hours in the car is the longest ride he's been on. He did pretty well overall. The weather was crummy on the way up but thankfully it warmed up a bit and it wasn't snowing or raining.

Maine has some of the best local ice cream and lots of it.

Jono and Bonnie preparing our tasty meal Saturday night.

These are the beautiful views right outside their back door. It makes me miss living in the country even more.

Dumpling Update: 8 Months

George was 8 months on Monday. It's taken all week to find the camera cord so I could upload these pictures. George has accomplished quite a lot in the last four weeks. Learning to crawl and getting teeth is hard work though so no one has been sleeping much. The last few nights have been a little better and so far he's been taking 2 one and a half hour naps. This is huge for George. Hopefully he'll keep it up! Taking pictures this month was a little more difficult because he's mobile. All he wanted to do was get the camera.

Weight: 17 pounds 8 ounces

New Skills/Happenings:

Take A Hike!

Sunday we went on our first hike of the year. It was only a couple miles on a trail that we came across about 20 minutes from our house. Besides taking advantage of the warmer weather we wanted to see how George like the backpack. Thankfully he's a big fan. I think he liked being as tall as his daddy. We want to take him with us on some longer day hikes this summer so we're happy that he enjoys it.

This trail is part of an old family farm. You'll see the stone cellars and graveyard.
